The Oyster Bay Harbor

As I come to the end of another month at home, many of New York's regions have begun reopening. Big crowds at parks and beaches over the Memorial Day long weekend; I guess one of my favorite spot for painting is probably packs with people who need fresh air. So I decide not to paint out at the Oyster Bay in long island because I am not sure if it's really safe even though I just received my packages of  canvases and oil paints. I would love to see the sunset over the beach and enjoying the sound of ocean. Boat rides on long island is one of the subject I like; you can see and heard lots of smiles and laugh while the harbor itself remains quiet. I feel only the sea echoes the sound of the mountain. And I want to record this feeling on my painting.

The four season is in my garden

The View out of the window

"Flowers' fragrance and birds' singing add extra layers to the landscape"; I have to  say I am very lucky to live in such a beautiful community where I can enjoy four seasons even if I don't go out. As you know, what nature presents to you is not just about sight, it is more about what its texture, color and seasonality give you. During this lock-down period of time, I especially like to enjoy a cup of tea and immerse myself into the scene of atrium garden out of window. I enjoy the tranquil moment no matter rain or shine. The Sun shines through the tree, the rain falls and blowing wind through the trees, the birds' singing, the scent of flowers ----   all these things give me endless joy. I have couple of paintings of the atrium garden where located in the center of my apartment community. I am posting another one and I hope you will enjoy the scene as much as I do.

Still Life with Tea Wares

Still Life with Tea Wares
I have been drinking tea and practicing Chinese Tea Ceremony since 2011; The Chinese Tea Ceremony is not just about drinking tea; it's a meditative method to guide you to focus on each step of tea making process. A way of reconnect ourselves with nature in a cup of tea; it helps us learn to focus on present and listen to our inner world. Let the power of awareness reflect what comes to us. Sip and feel. It's a very good practice during this special time;  I want to share one of the painting that I painted after having a Chinese Tea Ceremony. Peace comes from within, do not seek without; I hope you can feel the state of peaceful mind from my painting.

The view out of the window

The View Out of the window
The View out of the window
We have been facing difficult time for almost two months and the Covid-19 pandemic has affected most of Americans' lifestyle. Most of us are asked to stay home and work from home. As an artist, you are either painting outside or on your own studio or at home.  So, I have been having some fun painting from the view out of the window. In fact, the Atrium Garden in my apartment community has being one of my favorite painting theme. Here is one from the other day painted in oil on canvas. I enjoy the birds singing and dancing on the flowers while I am painting. I hope you will find the same joy by looking at my work. Stay safe and take care of each other.
